Benchmarking might sound passive; it is not.

If done well, it is a means of identifying critical indicators or potential systemic leverage points. These leverage points are opportunities for investment and action that could have profound effects towards tipping the balance in favor of wider adoption of Green Chemistry.

AGC’s Benchmarking project is a research effort to gauge the health, resilience and growth potential of Green Chemistry as a field. The aim is to pull out relevant indicators to give a richer perspective on the status of the field.  Our efforts have been focused on gathering those data that are readily and publicly available, and restricting our focus to those subjects which self-identify as “green chemistry”.

In the first phase of benchmarking we searched for informative and attainable indicators in the following areas:
